Indigenous Arts Officer

4 days per week – permanent

$70,000 (pro rata)

If you are keen to work with The Torch and help make a positive impact on people’s lives then we are interested in hearing from you.

We are seeking applications for a new Indigenous Arts Officer to join our team of talented creatives who deliver the Torch program in prisons and in community.

The Torch currently employs five Indigenous Arts Officers and is currently looking to hire a sixth to keep up with the growing demand for our program in our male prisons and male post release cohort.

The selected applicant will be based at our office in St Kilda and will be required to travel regularly to Victorian prisons and to metro and regional Victoria to visit participants in community.

This role supports participants to establish and sustain an arts and cultural practice and assist in community reintegration.

The Torch is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong experience working with the Aboriginal community in the community development and/or arts sectors.

The Torch is a not-for-profit arts organisation that provides cultural and arts industry support to Indigenous offenders and ex- offenders.

The core business of the Torch is to address the over representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within Victoria’s correctional facilities through its Statewide Indigenous Arts in Prisons & in Community program.

Crucial to the success of our Arts Program is the cultural support and cultural guidance provided to our participants from our Indigenous Arts Officers, which is why we are seeking applicants from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people for this role.
