Fundraising and Development Manager

The Torch is currently recruiting a new Fundraising and Development Manager. This is a leadership role supporting the next phase of development and growth for The Torch. Within a team of 24 staff, the Fundraising & Development Manager works closely with the CEO to design and drive new strategic fundraising opportunities and sponsorship initiatives. In addition, this role manages strong existing funding relationships with major trusts, government, and philanthropic bodies, as well as a growing major gifts community.

About The Torch

The Torch is a First Nations-led cultural arts organisation making waves in both the arts and justice worlds for over a decade. Working with First Nations people who are incarcerated around Victoria, The Torch focuses on the role of art, culture, and cultural identity in supporting participants to find new pathways beyond the criminal justice system.

Chris Austin, The Torch participant and Indigenous Program Mentor, says it best:

“The Torch has given me and others the chance to change our lives and travel on a new path. For myself, and others, it is the first time that we have created something from nothing, and I can better myself through art. It is so refreshing to know that everyday people do care about us – we are so used to the negative replies like we are worthless, no good and won’t amount to anything except prison.

[Art] has removed all the negative and made me feel worthwhile about myself and that I can achieve great things, to tell my story through my art and hopefully to spread the word, that if I can do it so can they. I can honestly say The Torch made a difference in my life but in those of countless others as well. I promise to keep exploring my art and my job as a mentor in counselling others in travelling down the right pathway.”
