J. Ellis is a Yorta Yorta artist who first joined The Torch program in 2023. She practices her art using acrylic on canvas and likes to paint flowers, birds, and nature. Her artwork shares stories of hope, self-growth, and connection to her family. Painting was a way for J. Ellis to pass time constructively while in prison, but she has continued creating since her release and uses it as a way to express herself.
