J. Riley is a proud Wiradjuri man and artist living on Wadawurrung Country. Growing up along the East Coast, he experienced a turbulent youth, including encounters with the justice system from an early age.
As a teenager, J.Riley found creative expression through drawing and painting, influenced by graffiti-style art. In 2020, he met fellow artist and mentor Bushka, a pivotal moment that deepened his connection to art and culture. Through his work, J.Riley now channels his cultural identity and life experiences, using art as a powerful medium to share his story.
J.Riley’s artwork features native animals found in and around the river systems. Through his art, he strengthens his connection to Country and culture. Each artwork shares a personal story, capturing his strong connection to family and his love for his children.
