Waridub Meriam/Erub (Torres Strait Islands) people
Waridub's family originated in the Torres Strait, on Darnley Island (Erub). His family includes cameleers, Australian champion boxers, buffalo and crocodile hunters, and war heroes. Waridub's grandmother and grandfather lived at Kokoda in Papua New Guinea before and during the second World War. His grandfather died there and is buried at Bomana War Cemetery in PNG. These memories and lived experiences show in Waridub's art along with the hunting and fishing which still continue today.
