Now Hiring: Social & Emotional Wellbeing Coordinator (Identified Position)
The Torch is proud to announce an inaugural role, the first of its kind within our organisation. We’re seeking a Social & Emotional Wellbeing Coordinator to help shape a new chapter in how we support the wellbeing of our artists, participants, and staff.
This new position has been developed through workshops and consultations with living and lived experience artists and participants, ensuring the role is grounded in real experiences and community voices. The Social & Emotional Wellbeing Coordinator will strengthen The Torch’s culturally safe and community driven approach to social and emotional wellbeing, helping create a safe and healing environment where art, culture, and connection thrive.
About the Role
The Social & Emotional Wellbeing Coordinator will provide culturally safe, practical, and emotional support to participants transitioning into the community, while also supporting The Torch’s staff through reflective practice, debriefing, and wellbeing initiatives. You’ll build strong referral pathways with community and service providers and help strengthen The Torch’s internal culture of care and connection.
About You
You are a nurturer who values self care, a collaborator who builds trust and mutual respect, and a translator who helps others navigate systems and services with clarity. You have the capacity to hold space for others while maintaining healthy boundaries and transparency. You’re adaptable and responsive a shapeshifter who can shift perspectives and approaches to meet people where they are.
You bring emotional intelligence, strong reflective practice, and a desire to strengthen The Torch’s internal culture of wellbeing. Above all, you believe in the healing power of culture, art, and community connection.
Role Details
- Position: Social & Emotional Wellbeing Coordinator (Identified Position)
- Type: Permanent – Part-time (0.6–0.8 FTE, 3–4 days per week)
 Full-time may be considered for the right candidate
- Salary: $100,000 – $105,000 pro rata + superannuation
- Location: The Torch, Carlton (with some outreach travel as required)
- Reports to: Operations Manager

Accepting Applications Year-Round: Indigenous Arts Officer
Join The Torch’s team of talented First Nations creatives who deliver our art and cultural programs to In Prison and In Community participants. Our Indigenous Arts Officers support First Nations participants to develop their arts and cultural practice both in prison and after release.
This role requires regular travel to Victorian prisons and to metro and regional Victoria to visit participants in community, and scheduled travel to our Melbourne metro office.
