Toni D Wiradjuri people

Toni D is a proud Wiradjuri artist from Urana, New South Wales. Growing up on Country, she always felt a deep connection to culture, which she now expresses through weaving and painting. She began her artistic journey in early 2024, discovering the power of art while in prison, where she learned to paint alongside other women passionate about reconnecting with their heritage.

Toni’s work often features animals significant to her mob, especially her totem, the Goanna. Through painting, she shares her stories and strengthens her sense of identity and self-worth. Since embracing her path as an artist, her outlook on life has transformed, igniting a deep desire to learn more about her culture and history.

For Toni, art is more than just creativity—it is healing, storytelling, and a bridge to cultural knowledge. Each piece she creates is a reflection of her journey, resilience, and the enduring strength of her people.
