Aaron H Barkindji people
Born in Werribee, Aaron H is a Barkindji man from his maternal side.
Growing up in Werribee, Aaron admits to having ‘got into a lot of trouble there’. He had his own business doing fencing; though, since moving to Shepparton at age 32 ‘for rehab’, in order to better his life and that of his two kids, he has worked as a forklift driver.
Aaron says he ‘only started painting at MRC in 2024.’ Though self-taught, when released he wants someone to show him more techniques.
‘I just enjoy painting,’ he states. ‘I’ve tried doing some landscape but more enjoy painting animals and dots as I find it really good to float away and just be in the moment’.
