From Hobart, southern Tasmania/Lutruwita, ‘I belong to the Palawa/Nuenonne Mob’ says Brent H. ‘I first started painting in 2019 when I got incarcerated’.
‘My paintings are usually traditional paintings about stories of my family and my journey’s’ he shares. ‘Painting makes me feel relaxed and connected to my Ancestors. It also makes me feel proud as a Nuenonne/Palawa man to share my culture and stories with others’.
‘I am starting to do more traditional Palawa artwork and tell more traditional stories,’ says Brent H of his style. ‘I usually start off with just an idea in my head and as I start painting, the artwork just seems to form itself’.
