Brent Hall – Palawa Nuenonne Artist

Brent Hall is a proud Nuenonne Palawa man from Hobart, Southern Tasmania. His artistic journey began in 2019 while incarcerated, where he was mentored in traditional painting techniques by Uncle Ralph Rogers, also known as Bushka.

Deeply rooted in cultural storytelling, Brent’s artworks reflect the stories of his family, his personal journey, and the rich heritage of his ancestors. Through painting, he finds a sense of peace, pride, and connection—to his people, his Country, and the wisdom of those who walked before him. Each brushstroke strengthens his identity and allows him to share his culture with others.

Brent’s creative process is intuitive—he starts with a vision, allowing the artwork to take shape organically as he paints. While his earlier works incorporated intricate dot and line work, he is now embracing and reviving traditional Palawa art forms, focusing on ancestral stories and cultural narratives.

For Brent, painting is more than a practice—it is a lifeline, a spiritual connection, and a powerful expression of who he is as a Nuenonne Palawa man.
