AMW is a proud Palawa artist and has been a participant in The Torch program since 2020. His artworks often reflect a deep connection to Country and the natural world, particularly Tasmania’s unique ecosystems and wildlife. Through his paintings, AMW raises awareness about the fragile balance of the environment; from the ancient Maugean Skate fighting for survival in Macquarie Harbour, to his own journey of longing for home on the Derwent River. His work speaks to resilience, cultural continuity, and the responsibility to care for Country, ensuring its stories and species endure for generations to come.
