Gumarran is a Yolgnu artist from the north-eastern Arnhem Land region of the Northern Territory. Gumarran belongs to the Dhuwa moiety, which is one of the two divisions that all Yolgnu plants, animals, places and people belong to, the other being the Yirritja moeity.

Gumarran’s paintings often incorporate flowing, expressive brushwork and a colour palette that takes inspiration from natural ochre colours.
