Coming & Going

It’s a clash of modern and traditional Aboriginal art styles. The goanna is painted in traditional colours, in a modern style. The leaves and the branches represent the fact that goannas can climb and rest in trees to get bird eggs. The tracks represent the traditional markings of goanna tracks and that’s how you could read off the painted wall that they’re in the area and what ya need to look for if ya want to track them. The tracks on my painting tell ya that he’s gone in each direction, so he’s coming and going. The direction of the footprints tell ya which way they have gone.
