Girraween and Barrtji

Girraween means the place of flowers. It occurs in Queensland when the spring wildflowers start to burst into full bloom. The wattles with their beautiful yellow are against the greens of the bush and the reds of the earth. I have included the white to represent Barrtji (yams) which used to cover our land and were a staple of our people's diet.
