The Creator of Law & the Law Enforcer of the Loddon River
$1,890
The Loddon River runs through the heart of Dja Dja Wurrung Country, Country under the law of Bunjil the Creator. His laws are enforced by Mindye the giant serpent.
In this painting I have used traditional symbols with a realistic twist to depict Bunjil watching over his land from his tree in the mountains. Below, Mindye lies in the Loddon River waiting for those who dare break the laws of the Creator.
The diamonds are a traditional symbol of the Dja Dja Wurrung people, used in art or on shields and weapons. The dots represent the different families of the Dja Dja Warrung people.
