Future Descendants

$300

In the creation Dreamtime, long ago, Alinda the Moon Man and Dirima the Parrot Fish Man fought so violently that they both died. The spirit of Alinda then changed himself into the moon and Dirima became the parrot fish.

Alinda was still angry. When Dirima’s time came to die, he remained dead and so would all living things, never to return to life. But Alinda partially escapes his own rule by dying for only three days and then coming to life again, journeying across the sky.

Some Aboriginal people believe that the skeleton of each dead moon becomes the empty shell of the Nautilus and drops into the sea. Nowadays, however, Aboriginal people know that they do not die forever, but live on in their children and their descendants in the Future Dreaming.
