Murray River

I painted this artwork because it makes me think back to when I was a young boy and me and my family would go down to the river where we would find turtles to eat. My people, the Wiradjuri tribe, is a big mob. The Murray River our meeting place. We would meet the Yorta Yorta tribe here. We’re all from NSW on one side of the Murray River, which is also where the Yorta Yorta mob is from – the other side of the river is Victoria. So both tribes would use this river for a lot of things, to eat, swim and meet other mob. So the Murray River has been there for our people for so long and means a lot to our mob.
