Borun the Pelican

I am a Darug man, currently living on Gunaikurnai Country. This sculpture is my tribute to the Gunaikurnai founding ancestor, Borun the Pelican. Borun came a long way from the mountains, carrying his bark canoe on his head. When he reached the water inlets, he put down his canoe and was surprised to find Tuck, the Musk Duck, in it. She became his wife and the Mother of the Gunaikurnai people.
