Red Gum Coolamon

Making this coolamon helped me connect more with my culture, taking me back to the ways things were done. I found this piece of wood when I was on a bush walk and it had been burnt for many many years. I worked on this coolamon for many months. I carved it all with only a hammer and chisel and finished it with sandpaper and oiled it. Coolamons were used to hold babies, gather berries/food and for ceremonial uses.
