When I created this jewellery box, I wanted to incorporate modern parts to its construction mixed with red gum that has been carved with hand tools – just as our ancestors carved with wood. The base is meant to be like the roots of a tree reaching into the rich soil. The symbols around the band are of a meeting place and people travelling to it.
