Hunting Goanna

I painted the sand goanna because I am Yorta Yorta on my dad’s side and mum’s family are from Moonacullah, a mission just out of Deniliquin, and the sand goanna is the totem from up that way. The sand hills run from Cummeragunja all the way up to Moonacullah. The sand goanna is a bit whiter than other goannas, which I think is just to help it blend in.
The symbols at the top and bottom are of four young boys going out to hunt the goanna. These represent me and my cousins. We caught a goanna a while ago but decided not to eat it and so let it go.
