Albacutya – My Grandfather’s Country


This painting tells the story of the underground water that bleeds from the ground and the energy deposits within the ground of Chinkapook in north west Victoria, Wergaia and Boorong Country, my Country. The energy within the ground is represented by the swellings in the lines.

Albacutya is the real name of my grandfather, Archibald Pepper. Lake Albacutya was named after him. His Country takes in Lake Tyrrell, Lake Albacutya and Ebenezer mission in the south.
