When he was young, this fella lost both of his parents and his father’s mother (a widow to a war hero) in a sad and tragic accident.
He was placed into care with his mother’s parents, who were his only remaining relatives. His grandma taught him old ways of our culture, teaching about history of gathering and hunting, food and clothing and the Dreamtime stories around our medicines and ceremonies. He soon after became a lonely orphan. He specifically remembered her stories about a magical wattle tree, raspberry jam tree, or Manjart to our Noongar cousins.
Determined to see his family again, he set out on a journey to find some of this magical tree to experience a ceremonial journey to another place, where he and his family could be together again.
When he found what he needed, he made a brew, just the way his grandma explained. There they all were – mum, dad, their parents as well, all full of joy and pride, dancing in celebration.
This fella had his first spiritual journey. He had awoken to the deadly feeling of experiencing a spiritual ceremony and going on a wondrous journey.
