Little Lightning on the Reef

We would go out fishing in the shallow water over the reef off Green Island in a dinghy with a kerosene lamp. One fella would hold the lamp over the water and the other fella would have a spear. The light from the lamp would bring all the bait fish to the surface and this would then bring the bigger fish to the surface. That would be the time to spear them.

One night a flash of lightning struck right overhead, and the whole reef lit up bright as day. This is my memory of that event.
