My Country: Wemba Wemba, Njeri Njeri, Wergaia #1, 2019

The colours in this painting represent the springtime colours of Lake Tyrell. The patterns have been used by my countrymen for many generations, carved into woomeras and shields, or burnt into possum skin cloaks. There are stories in these lines. When I painted this I thought about the stories that would have been shared as those artworks were created; the lines and the stories span generations.
